Interview with Sandra Vende
What inspires you?
Traveling inspires me, whether it is the quietude of a desert surrounded with red rocks or a hectic street in a metropolitan area where I can get to know different people, city dynamics and cuisine. It is always a learning experience that I bring back home.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
My favorite vacation spot is Tulum, located about an hour south of Cancun, with its Mayan ruins overlooking the Caribbean Sea and profusion of coastal activities.
What is your motto or favorite quote to live by?
“To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive.” Robert Louis Stevenson (1881)
What are your hobbies, outside of your business?
I enjoy hiking very much, which I usually do when I travel. I also love going to the theater and checking out plays, musicals, operas or live concerts in different cities.
Are you involved with Charity work? Tell us about it.
Each year in December, my company puts together a charity “Flight” to the North Pole for children with difficulties. I was very glad to be part of its preparation this year.

Who is the person you’d most like to meet or spend the day with and why?
Derek Jeter who plays for the New York Yankees; he’s a great baseball player and I would love the opportunity to throw some balls with him.
How did you get your start in the business?
My brother Henry worked for American Family Insurance for 10 years and introduced me to the business.
Do you have any kids? Tell us about them.
I have 3 kids, one son and two daughters. They are the best thing that has happened to me. They are active in sports such as wrestling, softball, baseball, basketball, and soccer. So, they keep me busy and are a lot of fun!
Do you have any pets? Tell us about them.
I have three dogs…. 2 Pomeranian and 1 Chihuahua, great dogs, very well-behaved
What is the most unique thing about you?
I can trace my family heritage back to 1849 and I’m originally from Nicaragua.
Who is your favorite sports team?
The New York Yankees
What is your most cherished possession?
My original painting of the 1st member in my Pallais family from 1849.
What is your motto or favorite quote to live by?
The Golden Rule – “Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you.”
What has been your favorite Wedding and why?
My sisters wedding in Nicaragua – it was beautiful and was held in the cathedral.
What are your hobbies, outside of your business?
I play on a baseball team and coach sports such as softball and baseball.

I volunteer for local community events and at my kids’ school events.

My husband bought me a Hasselblad when I was 19 and some studio lights. I went to school and graduated and began my career.

I have 3, Maverick is 11 and races Motocross and plays hockey. Beau is 7 – races and plays hockey too. Mercedes is 5 – plays hockey and keeps the boys in line.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Being at the cabin with my family every summer on the whitefish chair!

Maui
What is your most cherished possession?
My kids.

Live every day as if it were your last.

My name is Kelli Engstrom, owner and award winning photographer of Kelli Engstrom Photography located in beautiful Crosslake, MN. Crosslake is in the heart of lake country and has provided me with a canvas in which to turn my lifelong passion for photography into a fulfilling career. I have been professionally taking portraits for 16 years and have loved every bit of it.
Through the years my business has grown with the help of repeat clients and word of mouth referrals. My career has led me down many paths where I have photographed a wide variety of events, such as weddings, family reunions, sporting events and expos to name a few. I do family, children’s, senior, team/individual and pet portraits as well as commercial stills.
Location portraits are one of my favorite types photo shoots. In my opinion it is the best way in which to capture the true essence of subject or client. It is truly a unique experience which I enjoy being a part of because it brings out the real smiles and emotions of the people being photographed. What inspires you?
I am often inspired by how two completely different entities can come together as one so harmoniously. Such as city and country, complimentary colors, or how opposites attract.
Do you have any pets? Tell us about them.
I currently have a very spoiled rabbit named Cinnabun II. He is a house rabbit that is litter trained and stands on his hind legs to “give kisses” to my nose on command.
What is the most unique thing about you?
At the age of 12 I started showing horses, and although I am not currently showing, I stay in the business by traveling around to regional shows to photograph the shows as well.
Who is your favorite sports team?
I am totally about supporting the home team so any Minnesota team especially Twins, Lynx, Timberwolves, and Vikings.
What is your motto or favorite quote to live by?
The grass is greener where you plant it.
Are you involved with charity work? Tell us about it.
I am involved in various charity works throughout the year, but I help gather and deliver thousands of gifts to families or individuals in need in my community around the holidays every year.

Interview with Jenna Ferguson and Sari Lindeman
How did you get your start in the business?
Jenna: After graduating from the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University, I began as an intern at Bellagala winter 2010. I was hired on shortly after as a part-time Wedding Consultant, and slowly transitioned to a full-time Sales Coordinator. I also started doing Event Planning through Bellagala this past winter.
Sari: I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to be a Sales & Events intern at Bellagala following college. I was able to continue with the sales team after my internship as a full-time employee. It’s the perfect fit!
What is the most unique thing about you?
Sari: I studied in Japan during college and I am able to speak fluent Japanese!
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Jenna: I have many great memories of family trips to Puerto Rico, to visit my grandparents who were “snow birds” there. Oh, and Barbies. I played lots and lots with Barbies with my sister Kelli, as a kid…
What’s your favorite vacation spot?
Sari: Sitting on the dock at my family’s cabin on Lake Vermilion. The only things you see are boats, loons and water!
What is your most cherished possession?
Jenna: An inscribed rosary from my Nana that she had blessed in Rome, one for each of her 10 “grandbabies.” For the girls, it’s meant to be our “Something Old” when we get married… (hopefully someday soon) 
What is your motto or favorite quote to live by?
Jenna: “Be happy for this moment, for this moment is your life.” I surround myself with positive, happy people who share this same belief! I’m also fond of, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” So true.
What has been your favorite Wedding and why?
Sari: My brother’s wedding in Portland, Oregon was a blast to be a part of. It may have actually been the first wedding where I never left the dance floor! To have all of our family and closest friends make the trip out there made it all the more special. Plus the scenery was breathtaking!
What is your favorite color?
Jenna: This is ever-changing, and usually can be determined by the color of my nail polish. Currently, it’s a “Caliente Coral” by OPI. Mint is pretty too!
Sari: Coral! It has a pretty and romantic feminine base with a splash of modern flair.

What is your motto or favorite quote to live by?
If you have a special talent, use it and share it with the world; it’s a gift that nobody else has — that’s why I’m in this business. I believe in entertaining people and making their event a memorable night for the rest of their lives.
What inspires you?
The kindness in people’s eyes and smiles. Music and people in love inspire me.
What is the most unique wedding you have been a part of?
I would have to say my own wedding. We had 3 traditions we had to incorporate. It was a 2-day celebration with the last night being the main reception party. The music and uplighting were amazing.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Playing in my dad’s band when I was between the ages of 12-16. I was the drummer. I remember going out to wedding gigs every weekend. It was fun, I got paid and the best part was hanging with my dad and uncles.
How did you get your start in the business?
It all started out in High school during Homecoming weekend. My buddy had a party and we had set up my DJ equipment in his tree house. There were so many people that came after the football game and the party looked like something out of a movie. I knew after that night, I wanted to pursue my career in music and entertainment. That following summer, I had my first wedding gig and the rest is history…

Todd: My kids and my wife

How did you get your start in the business?
Todd: I started by being an investor and grew to love the business.
Bethany: Through a marketing internship with a big agent in Texas. I fell in love with real estate.
Colleen: I was working on the mortgage side and decided the real estate side was much more suited for me.
Do you have any kids? Tell us about them.
Todd: I have three awesome kids. Noah is 12, Sam is 7, and Summer is 5.
Bethany: Not now, maybe someday.
Colleen: Yes! Connor age 16, currently ranked #20 in his class of 390 students – he’s a Sophomore taking college courses, Sydney is 14, she loves tennis and soccer & is our “social butterfly”, and my Stepson Zach – he’s 13, loves video games and basically any type of reptile!
Do you have any pets? Tell us about them.
Todd: Nope, Summer has stuffed animals and that’s good enough
Bethany: A fluffy slightly chubby mut (German Sheppard Hound mix). He’s my big baby.
Colleen: I do not, however my family does. They have 2 dogs; Duchess a 4 year old Westie, Duke a 1 year old Ciaran Terrier and a 7 year old cat, Mickey
What is the most unique thing about you?
Todd: Everything about me is unique
Bethany: I have traveled a lot and lived in another country for two years.
Colleen: I was born on St Patrick’s Day.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Todd: Going on vacation with my family.
Bethany: Riding my bike with my dad, I’m a total daddy’s girl.
Colleen: For sure traveling with my family – driving across country several times with 4 of us kids in the back seat of the Buick.
What is your most cherished possession?
Todd: My Home
Bethany: My pictures, I love looking back on them and the memories
Colleen: A box of “stuff” from my younger sister who passed away when she was 21, I was 23.
What is your motto or favorite quote to live by?

Todd: Mine, my wife is awesome
Bethany: I have been in and to a lot of awesome weddings. My favorite was my cousins because it was elegant, classy, simple, and very fun! Not to mention the bridesmaid’s dresses were cute little black cocktail dresses that I actually have worn since!
Colleen: My second was definitely way better than my first!:)

Todd: Hardworking and Caring

What are your hobbies, outside of your business?
Todd: Spending time with my family, new business ventures, traveling, and running.
Bethany: Working out, painting, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Are you involved with Charity work? Tell us about it.
Todd: Yes, I donate a percentage of my commissions to various charities.
Bethany: Yes, I have been on many mission trips and do service projects with my office and church as well as support other financially on their mission trips.
Colleen: Yes, I just got back from Haiti. I also volunteer in my community, go to Feed My Starving Children when I can and help at the area food shelf when I can. I am also very active with my Church.

Who is the person you’d most like to meet or spend the day with and why?
Paula Dean. Is that weird? Even though I may be annoyed by the end of the day, I think it would be pretty entertaining to learn how to bake some desserts from such a friendly lady.
How did you get your start in the business?
I always loved attending weddings, so when a college roommate asked if I’d film his wedding, I decided to run with it. Four years later I am lucky enough to meet new people and share my talents.
Do you have any kids (or dogs)? Tell us about them.
My wife Angela and I don’t have any kids quite yet, but we are getting some practice in with our puppy Odie. Not to compare children to dogs, but we have our hands full for sure.
Who is your favorite sports team?
Growing up in Montana, I was able to choose any sports team I wanted – so I went with the Chicago Bulls & San Francisco 49ers. Since moving to the Twin Cities 8 years ago, I have become a huge Twins fan! Win Twins!
What has been your favorite Wedding and why?
Obviously it was my own. Marrying my wife on a perfect sunny, summer day on a golf course was the best day of my life. If only I could have filmed it…
What is your favorite movie?
Space Jam anyone? When you mix the greatest basketball player of all time in Michael Jordan and a lovable cartoon rabbit in Bugs Bunny, how can you go wrong?!
